Ear moulds

Hi Everyone

Please can you write down anything about ear moulds here.

Anything new in the pipe-line?

Materials used?

Different reactions to different materials?

Coated and treated moulds?

Carved v's full?

Life moulds - acoustics, REMs, experiences etc

Write anything - even if minor and seems insignificant. If it involves moulds jot it here. Please.

Thank you.

Gosh, where to start!

I'll just put this on or I could be here all night.

I'm currently mourning my old mould company and the range of materials they had, as the one used at my current hospital seem to have hard and soft acrylic or microflex and another similar material, so I'm using UV coats more than I used to, although if the mould needs adapting the coating comes off.

power vents

Mentioned at the BSA earmould day last year where Power Vents.
Vents which are put into the whole concha of the aid and have no acoustic effect because of this but allow us to ventilate the ear even if the hearing loss is severe or profound where ventilation would normally cause feedback.

They are done in moulds that are using the new scanning and CAD designs rather than traditional methods.

One image of this is available here:
